Community Activities

We have a long heritage of doing good work in the Town and have been doing this since we were formed in 1987.

We are proud of our town, its history and the fact it has not lost its identity in our busy world. Through our community activities we are helping to promote togetherness and helping people have fun. The success of our activities raises significant funds to support the wider local community and international projects.

Today some of our activities have grown into major events with The May Fayre and Carols in the High Street attracting vast crowds. Our Santa Float travels the town for all of December and is eagerly welcomed by crowds of young children and their families. These events are only possible because of the support provided by the many other community groups in our town supporting us by providing many helpers.

As the cost-of-living increases, we are acutely aware of the hardship many now face. We are proud to support the Town’s two food banks with monthly contributions to the cost of topping up food parcels for local people. We see this as a long-term challenge and are gearing our funding accordingly.

In between our activities we also support other groups by shaking a tin or organising a car park or by liaising with our local Town council on projects such as the provision of defibrillators and the organisation of other events.
